The Hilarious Debutante

Of all the postings that honor the remarkable spirit of Heather, this particular one comes from a person who only knew her for a short time and so many years ago. Heather and my sister were presented as debutantes together. This was in 1987, I believe, and I vividly recall Heather's sense of humor at the time, her intelligence, and her charm. She stood out from the others in many ways, primarily because she seemed to have the best perspective about the events at hand - that is, as I recall, not taking things too seriously yet appreciating the fun. We danced to many a song in the Del Coronado's ballroom and I remember the two of us laughing. A fond memory. Twenty-four years ago...how is that even possible? I am not pretending to know Heather and the woman she became, but the heartfelt thoughts expressed here by the people who were close to her inspired an expression of my deepest sympathies to all who were blessed to have known her well. Over the years, there were a few times when I wondered what happened to that girl with the brilliant smile and gregarious nature. While I am, now, deeply saddened to learn of her passing - especially nearly three years on - it brings a great deal of joy to know that this wondrous person was so well loved and cherished by her friends and family. The world was blessed with her presence.
