Remebering Heather

I just learned about Heather's passing and my heart is very sad...mostly for her two young children who have to grow up without her.  Although Heather and I were not "great" friends, I've never forgotten her, and the year our path's crossed in 1986.  I was a senior at PLHS and Heather a sophomore.  We met during volleyball season and took a liking to one another right away.  Her nickname for me was Lovey.  I'm not sure why, but that's what she called me.  She was the most positive, upbeat, energetic, and affectionate person I had ever met up to that point in my life.  Her joy was contageous.  One of things I think endeared us to one another was our, how should I phrase it, "dorkiness".  Yes, dorkiness is the best way to put it.  Heather and I were both hams that enjoyed the spotlight and to make people laugh, most often at her own expense and embrassment.

I pulled out my year book from 1986 and Heather's beautiful smile can be seen throughout it.  I can't help but smile back at the girl who was my sidekick for one glorious and hilarious year.  That's how I will always remember her.
