So fitting....
Last night, several of us from San Diego gathered at the Cliffs to honor and celebrate our sweet friend Heather. We sat on a blanket in the blustery chilly evening and watched the sky, then the water, turn pink then orange as we toasted Heather's spirit and all that she meant to us. It seemed so fitting to be celebrating our memories of Heather against the glorious and exuberent sunset. She would have loved it!
Heather has been in my close circle of friends since high school, but I never was as close to her as I meant to be. Notwithstanding that, I loved, admired and respected her. Recently, I felt kinship with her because of our shared hard times. Even from her dark place, she reached out to me with advice and compassion--ever the giving and wise friend. I am so so sad to be saying goodbye to her and my heart aches for her kids, family, and all of the many many wonderful friends by whom she was surrounded.
Farewell friend.... thank you for sharing your beautiful life (and thanks for the sunset!)
