Hemenway

Courtney and Melissa lived across the street from us on Hemenway my second year at NU.  We used to open up the windows at all hours of the day and night and shout across the street to one another.  On our 21st birthday, Kate and I paraded around outside of their bedroom windown singing and dancing after 2 in the morning.  Instead of getting angry at us for waking her up (on a school night) she opened the window and celebrated along with us...

Sometimes we would just sit out on our stoop after a long week and enjoy a few drinks.  One beautiful Spring day I was sitting out there with Court and someone was nice enough to cool us off by taking a cooler full of water up on the roof and dousing us on the heads!

On a few occasions when we were feeling really silly, we would put on the kung fu channel and do voice overs to the characters...this usually forced everyone else out of the living room except for a few who chose to join into our silliness.

Another time I remember coming home from class, Court was on her stoop chilling out.  I went over to sit and chat with her.  She was waiting for her mom to come and pick her up.  I'm not sure if she was visiting or taking her back to NJ.  Either way, I'll never forget how she talked about her mom...she told me that her mom was the greatest, her best friend and her rock.  I really saw a different side of her that day.
