A faithful friend
I am fortunate to say I too share the feeling of having become friends with Annie almost instantly. I understand that time is spoken of in many ways, Kronos and Kyros, geologic time and a New York minute. I have now come to think there is Annie time. In Annie time there is no long period of getting to know you and accepting you. You are there and you are friend. The bond of friendship is not dependant on space and chronologic time. As many have written, in Annie time wherever you left off is where you begin, weeks, months, years go by, no matter. It was a delight to spend time in Annie’s company, as it was her way to make you feel special. I cannot say when the last time we were in the same location. This lack of geographical proximity seems irrelevant; there were phone calls, e-mails and my favorite, postcards from her travels. My friendship with Annie did not end due to limited shared time and space before and so it will not be now.
At the Easter Vigil as we sing the Litany of Saints – “all you holy men and women pray for us’ she will be receiving our song of prayer and friendship.
“A faithful friend is a sturdy shelter; he who finds one finds a treasure. A faithful friend is beyond price; no sum can balance her worth. “ Sirach 6
With my deepest sympathy
